Subject: MTS-Colorado FIRST FRIDAY BRIFING - September 2020

FIRST FRIDAY BRIEFING – September 4, 2020

“…fear not, for I am with; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)

“I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.” (Job 42:1)

There is but one only, living, and true God, who is infinite in being and perfection, … immutable, immense, eternal, incomprehensible, almighty, most wise, most holy, most free, most absolute; working all things according to the counsel of his own immutable and most righteous will, for his own glory; … so as nothing is to him contingent, or uncertain”(Excerpted from Westminster Confession of Faith, Chapter 2)

The impact of COVID-19 lingers on. Talk about feeling thwarted and dismayed – this is not an environment conducive to beginning a work that focuses on being with people as the key element of ministry and fund raising. Yet, I am beginning to have a renewed sense of hope looking ahead to the last third of the year. The verses and words above are light and hope for the COVID-19 weary soul.

Looking Ahead:

  • I am working on an idea for a possible live-streamed Support Raising Event on Tuesday, November 10. To make this effort successful, I need to recruit at lease one person from each PCA Church in Colorado to serve as a contact/liaison for MTS-CO. Please pray for God’s wisdom and provision regarding this idea. Stay tuned.

  • Many of you know I love being able to teach and proclaim God’s Word. A major contributor to feeling thwarted and dismayed is the absence of opportunities to do so. I am considering some electronic means of making this possible and definitely need God’s help. Again, please pray and stay tuned.

Praise and Prayer Requests:

  • Praise God for His continuing mercies which never fail and are new every morning!
  • Praise God for His incredible goodness shown to me and Hazel through each of you who give and pray for us. We are truly very blessed by God through you!
  • For God’s financial provision to move MTS-Colorado forward.
  • For the Lord to give wisdom and His blessings upon an MTS-Colorado Information and Support Raising Event later this Fall (tentatively scheduled for Nov. 10).
  • For the Lord to raise up at least one person at each PCA church in Colorado to serve as MTS-CO liaison.
  • For new opportunities to present MTS ministry to Colorado churches and individuals.
  • For God’s blessings upon the upcoming meeting of Rocky Mountain Presbytery on October 1 in Gillette, Wyoming. (I especially hope it will be a good opportunity to become more acquainted with the pastors and ruling elders.)
  • For God’s help in finding ways to teach and proclaim His Word.
  • For an opportunity to meet with Governor Jared Polis in God’s timing.
  • For restoration of order around the Colorado State Capitol.
  • For God’s mercy regarding the coronavirus.
  • For the upcoming elections and the grace and strength to acknowledge and rest in God’s sovereignty.

MNA, the organization that processes gifts supporting my ministry, Del Farris – Ministry to State, CO State Minister, has changed their online giving processor. Here’s how this affects you:

  • If you have set up a recurring gift, no action is needed. You will simply notice that beginning September 4, your emailed receipt looks different (see example). Also, the description on your credit card or bank statement will read, Mission to N America.
  • If you had a login to the previous processor, Stewardship Technologies, you will still be able to login through September 3rd to see and download your giving history. In October, you’ll receive an invitation to log in to our new system to update your profile and see your giving history.
  • If you give regular or one-time gifts manually, please use this new link for all future gifts:https://give.pcamna.org/to/del-farris-ministry-to-state-co-state-minister/
